Other Ports

Transatlantic crossings, Atlantic islands, the Panama Canal, Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Gulf — the calls that don't sit neatly in any one sea.

The calls that belong to no sea.

Not every port belongs to a region. This is where we keep the rest: the Atlantic islands you cross on a repositioning voyage, the locks and lakes of a Panama Canal transit, the Moroccan and West African calls on the way south, and the Arabian Gulf terminals that anchor winter itineraries out of Dubai.

Many of these appear on repositioning cruises — the one-way voyages that move ships between seasons, usually in April–May and September–November. They're long on sea days and short on crowds, and they often include ports that see a handful of ships a year rather than five a day. If you like a quiet gangway, this is the list to browse.

Because the entries here span several continents, there's no single season, currency or language to summarise — so the port pages carry more weight than usual. Check each one for the arrival type, the local money, and whether a visa is needed before you sail, since requirements in this group vary more than anywhere else on the site.
